DEV DOLI SNAN

 This year, Dev dolis were coming to Haridwar for a holy dip in Ganga ji. But due to the pandemic, firstly, to reduce the number of people in that event, number of dolis was reduced to 10. After that it was reduced to 3. Here is a glimpse of the DEV DOLI SNAN. 

RAM NAVMI

The ninth day (Navami Tithi) in the waxing phase of the moon (Shukla Paksha) of the Chaitra month is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Lord Rama. The deity was born in the Suryavanshi Ikshavaku dynasty and is worshipped as the Raja Ram of Ayodhya by the entire country. This year, the Ram Navami was observed on April 21 and began at 12:43 am on Wednesday and  concluded  at 12:35 am on April 22. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Rama was born as the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The Chaitra Navratri is devoted to Mother Goddess Durga, which starts on the first day of the Hindu New year as per the Lunar calendar and ends with Rama Navami. The shubh muhurat on the special day for Rama Navami puja was during the afternoon (Madhyana) which fall between 11:02 am to 1:38 pm. Bikhoti is celebrated primarily in the Dwarahat regions each year on the holy eve of Baisakhi the entire town springs to life with a large colorful fair. This fair marks the first day of the month of Baisakh or the first day of summer and each community within India (Sikh, Punjabi, North Indians, Tamilians, Oriya etc.) celebrate this important time with different names. People during this time create delicious sweet treats and take a dip in the holy river of Alaknanda or Bhagirathi as a way of showcasing their devoutness after which they visit the temple and worship to the lord. In 2021, this festival is tomorrow, i.e 14th April 2021,  HAPPY BIKHOTI TO ALL!! 

MOUTH WATERING DISH OF UTTRAKHAND : THECHWANI

 The Thechwani recipe come originally from Garhwal.Potatoes and radish root[pahari mula] are cooked in varied masalas and chilies .The radish root or the potatoes are used inn crushed form in this recipe. Ingredients of thechwani : garlic,ginger,whole green chilies,onion,salt to taste,red chili powder,turmeric powder,coriander powder,tomato,potatoes,radish. In this dish ,potatoes and radish are used crushed.Thechwani can be made of onion - potatoes ,potatoes - radish ,etc. but the main ingredients should be crushed . By the time you are crushing and  adding the vegetables , keep enough water for boiling. How to make Thechwani? 1. In a mortar and pestle, crush garlic ,ginger , green chilies and make a paste.Then crush potatoes and radish. 2. Heat oil in the frying pan. 3. Add jakhya. 4.  Uttarakhand has been divided into two parts that is Garhwal and Kumaon. As far as Garhwal is concerned, it is further divided into two parts that is Pauri and Tehri. The natives of Pauri are known as "Salayaan" and those of Tehri are known as "Tehriyaan". Earlier, in Uttrakhand, kings used to rule. Last king of Garhwal was MANABENDRA SHAH. That of Kumaon was MAHENDRA CHAND.  Pauri Garhwal is a district in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. Its headquarters is in the town of Pauri. It is sometimes referred to simply as Garhwal district, though it should not be confused with the larger Garhwal region of which it is only a part.  Tehri Garhwal is a district in the hill state of Uttarakhand, India. Its administrative headquarters is at New Tehri. The district has a population of 618, 931, a 2.35% increase over the previous decade.
