MONSOON/SAWAN ARRIVAL

 Monsoon season in Uttrakhand has started and it is a little cooler in this time of the year. So, in Uttrakhand,on 16th July, we celebrated sawan sakranti and made stuffed chappatis (BHARI ROTI) made of a pulse known as rayans in Garhwal. From this day {16th July} the month of sawan has started. Some people do fast on every Monday of this particular month, and kirtans are done. In this month, kanwar yatra also takes place, in which all the devotees of Lord shiva comes to Haridwar, take the holy water in their pots and take that back to their native place or wherever they have promised to and do abhisheka there.  So enjoy reading this blog, and till then.....  Stay home, stay safe and enjoy reading this blog. PATYUD /GHUNDLU

 As the season of monsoon starts, a very delicious dish called patyud/gundlu is made in almost every garhwali home. Making padyud /ghundlu is easy but quite difficult to mix the batter with the leaves of Arabi.Both the dishes are different but made from the same leaves,i.e. Arabi. Ingredients Serving: 2 Arbi ke patte(Leaves) 5 Besan 5 tablespoon ajwain 1 teaspoon Chopped Green Chillies 2 chopped coriander leaves 1 tablespoon Red Chilli Powder 1/2 teaspoon Haldi 1/2 teaspoon a pinch of Hing Mustard oil 3 teaspoon salt as per taste Chat masala Lemon juice 2 teaspoon White sesame seeds for garnish Instructions Clean the Arbi leaves with water. Make a paste by mixing all the other ingredients.Apply a layer of paste on one leaf and place the 2nd leaf over it. Now apply paste on 2nd leaf and cover with 3rd leaf. Repeat the same procedure till all 5 leaves are smeared with paste of besan. Carefully pack the leaves. Place the roll in a steamer for 15-20mins. After cooling slice into 1/2 in...
